Booking Through Thursday - Numbers Game

For something different, I’m borrowing a question from … here! One of the very first questions ever at Booking Through Thursday. Back from 2005 when Laura owned the blog but, because it was so new, it didn’t get as many responses as it does now … so, why not revisit?

Here’s the question:
Some people read one book at a time. Some people have a number of them on the go at any given time, perhaps a reading in bed book, a breakfast table book, a bathroom book, and so on, which leads me to…

Are you currently reading more than one book?
If so, how many books are you currently reading?
Is this normal for you?
Where do you keep your current reads?

I'm currently reading one book since this is the norm for me.. I tried to read 2 books a while ago and I got so confused I kept thinking who's who in which book.. I guess it doesn't help when both books are crime/mystery.. :)

So after that I went back to reading one book at a time.. unless it is a short story that is completly different than what I'm reading I would do that..

The book I'm reading now is "See No Evil" by Alisson Brennan and I'm halfway through.

Where I keep my reads is real close to me.. If I'm going out it's always in my bag, if I'm home it's surely in the same room with me.. even now it's next to the keyboard just waiting to be picked up :) It does help when it's in my Sony reader too :)

What do you do?

I prefer reading one book at a time, I get more out of it this way. However, recently I have found myself reading four books at a time, I have no idea how that happened. As soon as I'm done I'm going back to just one.
BTW, I have figured out how to make music play on my blog. I saw your playlist gadget on the bottom, clicked on it and voila. Thank you.

Are you currently reading more than one book?

Haven't been reading anything lately.

If so, how many books are you currently reading?

None.

Is this normal for you?

Nope.

Where do you keep your current reads?

Next to my pillow.

If it's awfully interesting -- then I read it at a stretch.

Try this:

Reading something terribly serious?

Switch to something lighthearted for a while.

Reading History?
Take a break. Read a bit of Current Affairs.

Got it?

And, try 'Code-switching' -- in your case:

Book: English
Magazine: Arabic

Or sometimes listen to an Audio Book.

Or read online for a wee bit.

I'm like you. Can only read one book at a time if I want to enjoy the story. I've tried the two or more book thing and wasn't satisfying to say the least. Looking forward to hearing what you have to say about See No Evil. I want to read the series. Have a good day. :)

I used to be a one book reader, however, since discovering audio books last year I usually have at least two on the go.

Right now I'm reading Dark Gold by Christine Feehan, Inkheart by Cornelia Funk (I am reading and listening to this), I'm listening to The Battle of the Queens by Jean Plaidy and I'm reading the Deltora Quest series by Emily Rodda to my son (7 books in one).

Generally I only read one book and listen to one book. So no more than two on the go usually!

I am a one book woman too. I will start the next one when I'm close to the end of the current one, but ususally I'll just stay up late to finish :)

As for audio books, I've been on the same one since november, so i would have to say that is a bust for me.

I'm like you ... one book at a time for me! But I do have a book of short essays I keep in the car for "emergencies." Some people pointed out that it is easier to read a fiction and a non-fiction --I could see that this might be true. But I still just like reading one book at a time. I guess I'm monogamous when it comes to books! ; )

And thanks for your comment on my Twilight post. I really enjoyed it and it made me laugh!

Blodeuedd, lucky you :)

Lilly, I've tried 3 books, in the end I finished one and the other two are stuck in my reading pile for over 3 months now! i don't even know when I'll go back to reading them!
Congrats on the music :) isn't it just great to listen to your favorite music while blogging ;)

Maqsood, I guess you should start catching up on your reading :) thanks for the tips :)

Robin, welcome to the reading-one-book-at-a-time club :)
As for See No Evil, I'm almost finished and it's full of surprises, twists and turns I'm loving every second of it.. you should start the series it's great!!

Alaine, WOw that's cool.. I really want to do that!!
I've tried the audio book thing twice and both times I went to sleep before the first chapter finished.. one book I didn't sleep through was only 2 hours on audio and I was busy doing something with my hands so I was fully awake.. but still I prefer reading a book :)

Jenny girl, I've never tried starting a book when I'm almost finished with the first one.. sometimes when I finish a book I'm in such a daze that I don't know what to start.. I guess this could help me! I might try it with this book I'm reading :) I like the idea!

Jenners, yeah I can imagine reading fiction and non-fiction to be reasonable but I'm not into non-fiction very much.. so basically what I read is fiction.. that's why I get confused :)
Glad you enjoyed the comment :)
