Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

Dead Reckoning by Charlaine Harris

Year Published: 2011

My Rating: 4 stars

336 pages

This is the 11th book of the Sookie Stackhouse series.
I have mixed feelings about this book.
I really expected to love it because I was so excited to read it, and have been postponing it to savour it. It was good but not to my expectations. Certainly not a favorite.

I will write the review soon!

Dead In The Family by Charlaine Harris

Dead In The Family by Charlaine Harris

Series: Sookie Stackhouse #10

Year Published: 2010

My Rating: 4 stars

238 pages

The is the 10th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series.

Sookie is healing from the events from the past book and while doing so is visited by her cousin Claude. He then asks to move in with her because he is feeling lonely without his siblings.

Eric is showing a different side of him here, he is more lovable if that is even possible. Sookie was being too clingy and annoying at times, that's the reason for the four stars.
Alcide and Sam were hot as ever. I just adore them!

Everything is slow and peaceful in Sookieland until the Weres come to roam on her land and discover a body buried there and some fae activity. Although she is quite sure who the body belongs to she is wondering who these fairies might be.

When Eric sends in a tracker of his own to investigate, she discovers two bodies instead of one. So the Packmaster Alcide is summoned to check it out, since this happened after the roaming they did. Only to discover a surprise. And it seems the body was put there to frame Sookie for the murder.

Meanwhile Eric's maker is in town along with Eric's sibling, a very famous sibling, who is totally out of control. Eric is so out of sorts as of what to do with this new brother of his and how to help control him before it's too late.

I loved Eric and that he is so vulnerable and at loss.. He is always commanding and in control, but here he is at a loss of what to do.. Specially when he can't seem to form a plan.. He is sooooo cute, ehm and sexy!!

Bill is still sick from the silver poisoning after the fae war and Sookie is at loss to what she could do to help him. Then she gets an idea and hopes it works.

The book was at a slow pace up until about 92% of the book and then the action started!! But I still enjoyed it!

Quotes I enjoyed from the book:

"While you were with Neave amd Lochlan, I suffered with you," he said, meeting my eyes directly. "I hurt with you. I bled with you- not only because we're bonded, but because of the love I have for you."
*Isn't Eric just adorable and so romantic??* <--- that's me :)

"Do I smell fairy?"
"You do, but there's not one here now, so just rein it in. My cousin Claude was here today. He's going to be bunking with me for a while."
"Claude, the mouthwateringly beautiful asshole?"
Claude's fame preceded him. "Yes, that Claude."

" 'Better to reign in hell that serve in heaven,' " Pam said. I knew she was quoting someone, but I didn't have a clue who it was.

"Jump," Eric said, holding out his hands and smiling. I laughed. I took a running start, and leaped. Eric caught me, his hands clamped around my waist. He lifted me up until my head touched the ceiling. Then he lowered me for a kiss. I wrapped my legs around his torso, my arms around his neck. We were lost in each other for a long moment.
Pam said, "Back to earth, monkey girl. Time is passing."

"Come here," Eric said. His face held my very favorite expression, and I was doubly glad to see it because I didn't want to think too much about Debbie Pelt.
"Hmmm. What will you give me if I do?" I gave him a questioning eye.
"I think you know very well what I will give you. I think you love me to give it to you."
"So...you don't enjoy it at all?"
Before I could blink he was on his knees  in front of me, pushing my legs apart, leaning to kiss me. "I think you know how I feel," he said, in a whisper. "We are bonded. Can you believe I'm not thinking of you while I work? When my eyes open, I think of you, of every part of you." His fingers got busy, and I gasped. This was direct, even for Eric. "
"Do you love me?" he asked, his eyes fixing mine.
This was a little difficult to answer, especially considering what his fingers where doing. "I love being with you, whether we're having sex or not. Oh, God, do that again! I love your body.  I love what we do together. You make me laugh, and I love that. I like to watch you do anything." I kissed him, long and lingeringly. "I like to watch you get dressed. I like to watch you undress. I like to watch your hands when you're doing this to me. Oh!" I shuddered all over with pleasure. When I'd had a moment of recovery, I murmured, "If I asked you the same question, what would your answer be?"
"I would say the exact same thing," Eric said. "And I think that means I love you. If this is not true love, it's as close as anyone gets. Can you see what you've done to me?" He didn't really have to point. It was pretty damn obvious.

"You realize Eric won't like another man living in the same house with his woman."
"Another man who is my cousin and also gay."
"But very beautiful and a stripper." Pam glanced over at me. She was smiling. Pam's smiles are somewhat disconcerting.
"You can strip all you want to-if you don't like the person you are looking at while you're naked, it's not going to happen," I said tartly.

"He is male enough to want to look strong in front of you, Sookie. Truly, Eric's a great vampire, and very practical. But he isn't practical nowadays- not when it comes to you."

"That would be wonderful," Claude said. "I want my shower, and I want a hot one." He smiled at Terry.
"Dude, I'm not gay," Terry said, and the expression on Claude's face was priceless. I'd never seen Claude nonplussed before.

"Listen, while we're talking family," he said. "You ready to tell me how you're really doing? You told me about your great-grandfather and what happened. How are your injuries? I don't want to sound like I expect you to tell me everything that goes on in your life. But you know I care."
*ooooooh that's the loving caring Sam I adore* <-----  me again :)

"Do you want to know what you're having?" Claude asked.
That was way out of bounds. "Claude," I said reprovingly. "That's too personal." Fairies just didn't have the same concept of personal information or personal space that humans did.
"I apologize," my cousin said, very insincerely. "I thought you might enjoy knowing before you buy their clothes. You color-code babies, I believe."

"How do you trust anyone?"
"I don't. There are two exceptions. You, and Pam."
"Oh," I said. I tried to imagine feeling like that. "That's awful, Eric."
I thought he'd shrug that off. But instead, he regarded me soberly. "Yes. It is not good."

Jason added ice to his glass and looked in the cookie jar. I didn't keep cookies anymore, because if I did, I'd eat 'em. He closed the jar sadly. Alexei was watching everything Jason did as if he were observing an animal he'd never seen before.

I kept running into stuff, and after a while Eric handed off his shovel to Jason and crouched so I could cling to his back. I kept my head tucked behind his so branches wouldn't hit me in the face. Our progress was smoother after that.

"Portia," he said. "Andy. I hope you don't find this too awkward."
I was busting-at-the-seams proud of Bill. It was easy to see where Caroline Bellefleur had gotten her graciousness.
Andy said, "I wouldn't have taken the money if I'd known it came from you." He evidently come straight from work, because he was wearing all his gear; a badge and handcuffs clipped to his belt, a holstered gun. He looked pretty formidable, but he was no match for Bill, even as sick as Bill was.
"Andy, I know you're not a fan of the fang. But you're part of my family, and I know you were raised to respect your elders."
Andy looked completely taken aback.

Dead And Gone by Charlaine Harris

Dead And Gone by Charlaine Harris

This is the 9th book in the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampires series.

Vampires have been known in the world for awhile now, but they are not the only supernatural beings around.. So, some others are coming out in the open but not everyone is accepting them as they had hoped.

Then someone is murdered in a very grousome way and left on display.. On the top of the list of suspects is Sookie's brother Jason, with means and motive too.

Then Sookie is faced with a new enemy that will not stop till one of them is dead!!

A lot of action and some new characters introduced.. Very fun to read as always, and keps you asking for more, more more!!

I enjoyed this book to the max and can't wait to read the next book.. A book for those Sookie fans everywhere :)

Quotes I enjoyed from the book: (Some might contain SPOILERS)

"Caucasian vampires should never wear white," the television announcer intoned. "We've been secretly filming Devon Dawn, who's been a vampire for only a decqade, as she gets dresses for a night on the town. Look at that outfit! It's all wrong for her!"

"I'm here tonight as a representative of a people who have lived among you for many years. Since the vampires have been so successful out in the open, we've decided the time's come for us to tell you about ourselves. After all, vampires are dead. They're not even human. But we're regular people just like you-all, with a difference."

"Eric told you to spend your time driving over here and asking me to come to his bar tonight." Even to my own ears, I sounded unbelieving.
"Yes. He said, 'Track her down, deliver the message in person, and be polite.' Here I am. Being polite."

The closer I got to the vampire bar, the more my pulse picked up; this was the downside to the blood bond I had with Eric Northman. I knew I was going to see him, and I was simply happy about it.

The wave of delight wasn't necessarily related to Eric's gorgeousness or the fact that we'd bumped pelvises, though. The blood bond was responsible. Maybe. I had to fight the feeling. For sure.

"Then I'll take the tiger's request off the table," Victor said. "My master was unhappy about the tiger wanting to leave, anyway. And of course, I'll inform my master about your formal attachment to this one."

"Can you doubt that I want what's best for you?"
"I don't doubt that you want what you think is best for me," I said. "And I don't doubt that that marches right along with what you think is good for you."
Victor laughed. "She knows you well, Eric," he said, and we both glared at him. "Ooops," he said, and pretended to zip his mouth shut.

Don't you just hate nights like that, when you think over every mistake you've made, every hurt you've received, every bit of meanness you've dealt out? There's no profit in it, no point to it, and you need sleep. But that night, men were on my mind, and not in a happy way.

"I'm sorry, cher," he said again. "Sorry you're having to handle it, sorry Jason will be suspected, sorry about the whole thing. Sorry for crystal, too."

"You want to own your own life," Eric said.
"As much as anyone can."
"Just when I think you're very simple, you say something complex," Eric said.
"Are you complaining?" I tried to smile, failed.
"No."

"Do you know why I ended up so close to your home, running down that road in the freezing cold?"

"Eric, when I'm back to being myself, I'm going to nail your ass for putting me in this position of being pledged to you."
"Darling, you can nail my ass anytime," he said charmingly, and turned to go back to his table.

I'd never seen his face so gloomy and serious. Sam was a creature of sunshine.

I was mad, and I was sad, and I suspected that Sam was right. That's when you get the angriest, isn't it? When you know you've done something stupid?

"Like you needed another enemy," he said, and stomped into his office.
Like I needed another friend acting like an asshole, I thought.

Everything about him gleamed and shone. The shirt wasn't simply white - it was snowy and starched; and his coat wasn't just black - it was spotlessly inky.

"I wait for the night you join me," he'd written on the otherwise blank card in his crabbed handwriting.
Faintly cheezy? yes. Gulp inducing? Oh, you betcha. I could practically feel my blood heat up. Ii was sorry I'd opened it right before I climbed in the bed. It definitely took me a long time to drift off to sleep.

Then he got under the blanket with me and propped himself up on an elbow. he was looking down at me. His back was to the light coming from the bathroom, so I couldn't discern his expression. "Do you love him?" he said.

"Do you realle remember?" I asked him. "Do you really remember staying with me before? Do you remember what it felt like?"
"Oh yes," he said., " I remember."

"Did you think that since we made whoopee and you said I was yours, I'd want to quit work and keep house for you? Eat candy all day, let you eat me all night?"
Yep, that was it. His faced confirmed it.

"I always tell you the truth," he said. And there wasn't a trace of that smile left on his face. "I may not tell you everything I know, but what I tell you.. it's true."

I was not where I was supposed to be, and I shouldn't be wherever I was. At the moment, these seemed like two separate and distinct thoughts.

"Why?" I asked. "He actually came to rescue me. Why get mad at him? Where were you?" Rage bubbled up my throat.

He'd lived for so many years, survived by hook and crook. He'd been ready to die for me. There is no female - human, fairy, vamp,Were- who wouldn't be affected by that. I thought of the nights we'd spent together, the times we'd talked lying together in bed - and I cried, though I felt almost too tired to produce tears.
