Booking Through Thursday - Gluttony

Mariel suggested this week’s question

Book Gluttony! Are your eyes bigger than your book belly? Do you have a habit of buying up books far quicker than you could possibly read them? Have you had to curb your book buying habits until you can catch up with yourself? Or are you a controlled buyer, only purchasing books when you have run out of things to read?

Yes, my eyes are so bigger than my book belly!!

I buy books that attract my attention in hope that one day I will read them.. I try to stock books because maybe one day bookstores will be extinct.. (Just Kidding) well I'm trying to convince myself that way!!

And if there is an offer like buy 2 books get the third free.. oooh I'm so into that.. I can't contain myself..

Lately I'm trying to avoid going to the bookstore.. so the bookstore came to me.. EBOOKS!!! Now I buy them online from the confort of my home and upload them to my reader..

My reader has over 200 books that are waiting to be read!! What do you think of this GLUTTONY!!

So what do you do?!

I'm the same way, but I haven't really gotten into the ebooks as I don't have a reader.

Wow -- 200 books, that is incredible. Happy Reading!

over 200 books! that's why I refuse to be sucked into the vortex of ebooks. Plus I like the feel of pages in my fingers. I'm a piggy too whenn it comes to books. At least we know we are keeping good company :)

Bluestocking, yes I sure am ;)

Melissa, ebooks sure helped in the space area since my shelves are already overflowing and there is no place to put additional books.. well many just a couple so ebooks are more convenient now for me :)

Jess, thanks .. yeah I know it's a lot I just hope I'll finish them in this lifetime.. since I'm not really a fast reader :)

Jenny Girl, I know it's crazy but it's more convenient for me because I have limited space left for new books :)

Me too. I have 20 some books and 8 more on the way. I keep putting large purchases that I have saved for on my amazon card and pay it off right away. That way I get free Amazon gift certificates and then I buy books that offer a four for three promotion. I just can't help myself!

I REALLY want to get an e-Reader, but I've been telling myself that I won't allow it until I have my TBR to under 10 books (not including my wish list, which is exponentially growing every week). It'll be like a treat and then I'll upload all those wish list books for $10.

Lots of sympathy here -- my TBR stack under the bed has gotten so big that I avoid the bookstore right now for fear no more will fit. (Bad news when work gets busy, but I keep buying books at the same rate.)

I have not done the ebook thingy either.

I'm a seasonal reader. I stock up on books in the fall for winter (I seriously worry about not having enough reading material to get me through a blizzard) and then again in the spring for summer when I have more time to read. Right now I have probably 250-300 books that I own but haven't read yet. I'm trying to finish at least three before I even think about buying a new book...which has helped, but there are so many tempting books out there...

I'm the same way you are, but I haven't gotten into ebooks yet. That's a good thing or I'd really be in trouble.

Too funny! 200 books. Yes, I am a book glutton too. Mine are all, so far, tangiable books. I don't even have a clue how many I have that I haven't read. I by one or two then go to the library and check out books and tell myself that I am saving money cause I'd by those too. *sigh*

My husband is getting me a Kindle for my birthday this month. We shall see.

What kind of ebook reader do you have.

I forgot to mention the 50+ e-books I got on my PC! Add that to 180 paperbooks!

OMG!OMG!

:D

Book gluttons, are we?

We are book soul sistahs!! I am a total glutton! I buy books in case of a book drought or I get snowed in somewhere or no access to a bookstore...any number of catastrophic possibilities. I have books everywhere in my house. I now use two chest of drawers in a spare bedroom for books. = )

sundcarrie, see you understand the promotion thingy.. who could resist it :)

Heather, If I did that to myslef then I would have never gotten a reader.. and now I don't know how I lived without it.. it helped me read more books, well Shelfari and blogging helped in that aspect too :) in addition to adding to my TBR that is ;)

Texas Red, LOL you need more space girl :) do realise I did NOT say stop buying ;)

Nise', you might like it :)

Ruth, your home is book heaven :) see, you understand about book stocking .. more important that food stocking :)
Actually I don't think I'll ever go book hungray.. since I was only counting my book invertory not my hubby's which is completly different since he only reads self-help and non-fiction, so I can start with those once I finish my hundreds ;) that is of course if I don't buy any more which is impossible ;)
And having so many tempting books sure doesn't help you stop buying!

Yvonne, LOL yeah I guess you might get in the same trouble I'm in :) but it's fun!!

The Book Resort, LOL see I am onto something.. I like to be prepared.. be safe not sorry :) you are so funny :)

Sharon, well Happy Birthday in advance and congrats on the Kindle in advance too.. I have a Sony Reader which I don't know how I lived without!!
It sure helped me read more :)

gautami tripathy, LOL yeah I know.. I have those too but I'm not counting them.. I shocked everyone more than enough :)

Vickie, hey there book soul sistah.. I fully understand your feelings :D if only I had a spare bedroom hmmmmm..
